Agent for Individuals/Power of Attorney

When you need financial guidance or assistance, turn to JCB’s Trust Department.

JCB Trust Officers provide investment assistance as agent or power of attorney under a document specifying the duties of the Bank. We provide recommendations in accordance with the goals and circumstances of the individual client; the client makes the final investment decision. We provide all safekeeping and record keeping services and also offer comprehensive bill paying and personal financial management if desired.

  • If JCB is my Agent or Power of Attorney, can I continue to make legal and financial decisions for myself?
  • Yes. Your Agency Agreement or Power of Attorney allows us to act as your representative, not your “boss”. You can direct us to handle only specific things. You can revoke these documents any time, unless you become incompetent.
  • Who typically asks JCB to be their Agent or Power of Attorney?
  • JCB serves as Agent or Power of Attorney for a diverse group of clients.
    • Some engage JCB as Agent for investment purposes
    • Some after the loss of a spouse who customarily managed finances
    • Those who travel frequently, or simply want to devote their time to other interests engage us to handle things such as tracking income and paying bills
    • Many establish a Power of Attorney on an inactive basis, as a part of personal planning, in case illness or injury may cause a need for assistance with these matters at some time
  • How do I establish an Agency or Power of Attorney with JCB?
  • We provide the documents to establish an Agency Agreement, but suggest you have an attorney prepare your Power of Attorney document, to insure it is properly executed and meets all legal requirements.
